Fossilised Time features original musical artwork inspired by a variety of visual images. Featuring several new works including a striking image entitled ‘Antarctica’ amd an intricate graphic score called ‘The Wardour Oak’ both inspired by the paintings of Gary Cook. There also three new works drawing on artwork by my close family: a painting of amonites which forms the title-piece of the exhibition, a painting by my brother Andrew using the Mutual Appropriation technique and a photograph of the Temple of Horus in Edfu. Musical Portraits is an exhibition of original paintings and photographs that have inspired musical pieces and artworks. These include a collaboration between Shaun and local photographer Jamie Randall. Jamie’s images capture the ‘unusual in the usual’ and he actively seeks a different perspective, whether portraying people, events or landscapes. New works will be created during the exhibition including two pieces based on the wonderful work of Gary Cook whose paintings reflect environmental concerns and include “hidden” scripts.
