Description

‘Summer’ is composed as a reminiscence of childhood days spent idling in the fields. I have so many happy memories of school summer holidays with friends; building dens from hay bales, walking through fields of wheat and, best of all, lazing in the soporific summer heat. The music is almost entirely simple and restful, alternating between gentle chords (representing a haze hanging over the land), with a simple tune which I like to imagine being played by a shepherdess on a flute as she surveys her flock. The music moves a little faster as the tune develops and broadens in texture, then fades as the sun sets over fields of bright gold beneath an amber sky.

Summer slumber in fields of green and gold, beneath the skies of blue and whispering amber cumulus. Soft sleep enfolded in the warmth of summer sun, halycon days spent in serendipitous repose.
